Responsibilities
Lead and involve in consulting activities, advisory and documentation tasks in partnership with NIT, Cloud Foundation Teams and various district stakeholders to meet the business requirements and goals
Collaborate with cloud teams and research business stakeholders to translate requirements and advise on efficient, cost-effective AWS-based solutions using industry standard Software Development Lifecycle practices
Guide & implement the selection and deployment of AWS services, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and security compliance requirements
Provide ongoing support, monitoring, and optimization of the internal cloud environment, including various compute and data environments
Serve as a subject matter expert on enterprise engineering best practices specific to cloud computing
Contribute to both the strategic planning and to the eventual solution build of a High Performance Computing (HPC) research platform
Leading, Consulting, designing, and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure AWS infrastructure and applications using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and AWS Cloud’s best practices
Automating the deployment, testing, and monitoring of applications through CI/CD pipelines
Monitoring and troubleshooting issues in production environments, leveraging AWS services like Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS IAM, AWS compute services like EC2, Parallel Cluster, AWS Lambda, ECS Fargate etc
Optimizing the performance, cost, and reliability of AWS-based applications; Collaborating with development teams to ensure that application code is compatible with the underlying infrastructure and cloud-native best practices
Implementing security and governance controls to ensure the integrity and compliance of the AWS environment
Continuously improving the DevSecOps processes and toolchain to enhance the overall efficiency and agility of the organization
Develops problem resolution for application software as needed. Conducts research and testing to determine cause and makes necessary corrections
Leads critical and highly technical/complex projects utilizing FRIT/System staff and resources
Follows and ensures adherence to technical standards for programming and design techniques. Trains System technical staff on use of software/hardware tools in accordance with required standards and procedures
Ensures compliance with internal audit requirements and Information Security Manual guidelines
Qualification
Required
10+ years experience pertaining to concepts and principles in functional area primarily AWS cloud engineering
Ability to act as a trusted advisor with broad audiences, both technical and nontechnical to present information in a credible, confident, and influential manner. Communicates in a concise, direct, and purposeful way
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area required
Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to interact with anticipated audiences in a courteous, service-oriented manner
Proven track record working effectively within large enterprise environments characterized by matrix reporting structures and cross-functional collaboration
Preferred
Master's Degree may be preferred
AWS Associate or Professional certifications strongly preferred
