Electrical Engineer II CEHE

The Electrical Engineer II will provide engineering and technical support services for the design, construction, and operation of the company's distribution system, including analyzing site plans and electrical models to improve system reliability.

Responsibilities
Review and analyze customer submitted site plans, structural drawings, electric one-lines, schematics, and load analysis
Use electrical models (CYMDIST) to analyze circuit loading, identify operating issues, make reliability and operational recommendations for the distribution system
Gather information and compiles data from multiple sources (SAP, G.I.S., Distribution Accounts, Service Centers, etc.) to construct electrical model and make recommendations
Prepare Distribution Development Plan documents and associated reports (construction lists, loading reports, detail drawings/sketches, etc.)
Perform studies to analyze and respond to New Load Requests, special studies, and other inquiries
Provide expertise to improve and enhance distribution planning techniques, standards, and procedures
Support Major Underground Engineering by processing New Load Requests, analyzing electrical drawings/diagrams/schematics and plan & profile drawings, to maintain the underground distribution system, including dedicated underground circuits and networks
Perform an engineering analysis of underground duct banks to evaluate cable ampacity
Support the construction, operations, and maintenance of the distribution system through communication with field personnel and customers
Gather and analyze data, perform engineering studies, prepare written reports, give oral presentations related to distribution systems
Manage multiple projects involving customers, contractors, and internal departments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of two years of electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design
Able to use a PC and engineering software
Able to use mathematics, including trigonometry and calculus, to complete complex engineering design calculations and relate mathematical solutions to actual utility situations
Able to interpret, analyze and produce electrical models, drawings, and technical documents
Able to apply knowledge of electrical theory and system operations to daily decisions
Able to make informed decisions, follow procedures and comply with policies based on the knowledge of the work and the services provided by CenterPoint Energy
Able to calculate system short circuit quantities using sequence networks
Able to communicate effectively with engineering, construction personnel, customers, and others in written and verbal form
Able to prioritize and schedule tasks, pay attention to detail and demonstrate good organizational skills
