Senior Research Project Analyst

The University of Missouri-Columbia is home to the Center for Rural Energy Security (CRES), which focuses on energy policy research for rural America. Responsibilities

Conduct technically sound and objective analysis of energy policy issues
Help develop and mentor a team of research associates
Prepare research reports, policy briefs, white papers, and other publications to disseminate research to government, industry, and public audiences
Seek external funding to support expanding research efforts

Required

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred

Master's Degree or higher in economics, agricultural economics, applied statistics, political science, public administration, or a similar research-oriented and quantitative field
4-5 years' experience independently conducting economic, energy, or policy research and analysis, preferably related to rural communities, agricultural production, or rural economic development
Ability to effectively communicate research concepts, outcomes, and policy implications with varied groups of interested stakeholders and media, both written and verbally
Experience writing grants for federal, state, and private philanthropic funding agencies
Excellent quantitative empirical analysis skills and familiarity coding in STATA, R, and Python
An ability to work collaboratively with academic scholars across social and physical science disciplines
