CMA Team Leader

Responsibilities
Establish the patient as the priority and focuses work around the customer service experience, for themselves as well as for the team
Supervise daily functions of the team, ensuring appropriate protocols and policies are followed
Monitor the daily workflow for efficiency
Reassign staff as needed or indicated by the Service Line Manager
Ensure all departmental logs are completed appropriately and completely
Approve daily timecards and ensures that team members arrive on time and take appropriate meal and break periods
Develop staff through coaching and training activities on a regular basis
Complete evaluations for staff on team
Build relationships amongst team leaders and colleagues to improve interoffice communications and develop teamwork capabilities
Collaborate through face to face and IM interactions with both providers and the dental and medical team leaders to solve issues that may present throughout the course of the day
Participate in monthly clinic team leader meetings to identify workflow issues and troubleshoot potential solutions to present to management team
Triage patient complaints and issues and solve as able. Route complicated issues to the next level of management or appropriate department as needed
Share appropriate and pertinent information with team in timely manner
Attend monthly and quarterly meetings to obtain organizational informational
Lead monthly team meeting to share organizational information and deliver quarterly team trainings
Maintain records of vital statistics and other pertinent patient data including medical and social histories
Prepare patients for and assist with examinations
Conduct specified laboratory tests. Collect lab specimens, including blood, urine, stool, sputum, mucous, and skin sources
Administer injections and medications, dress wounds and incisions, interpret physicians’ instructions to patients, assist with emergency and minor surgery, and perform related tasks as directed
Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment, and maintain stock of supplies and medications
Record and develop electrocardiograms
Relay messages to providers, assist providers with prescription requests, phone in prescriptions to the appropriate pharmacy once ordered and instructed to by a provider
Other duties within the scope of practices as assigned by the provider and/or supervisor
Qualification
Required
Completion of an accredited program for medical assisting or nursing program
Current Kentucky Nursing license or Certification/Registration for medical assisting
Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association
Minimum 1 year medical office experience preferred
Knowledge of medical office procedures
Basic computer skills
Skills in verbal and written communication
Multi-tasking skills
Proficiency in time management and organizational skills
Certification or registration recognized by a certifying board such as American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologist (AMT)
