Barrington James is partnering with a Global Biopharmaceutical company, seeking an experienced Tech Ops/CMC Director to provide end-to-end technical leadership across CMC and pharmaceutical development for a broad and evolving portfolio. This role spans the full product lifecycle, ensuring alignment between discovery, clinical development, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial operations while shaping development strategies that support long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities

Provide scientific and technical leadership across a portfolio of development and commercial-stage assets
Define and drive drug product and CMC strategies that enable robust, scalable, and compliant manufacturing
Serve as a technical authority across OSD, sterile/parenteral products, biologics, and long-acting formulations and delivery technologies
Lead technology development and product design activities, including support for long-acting and self-administration platforms
Oversee technology transfer, process scale-up, and commercial manufacturing implementation across internal sites and external partners
Provide technical oversight for development and manufacturing services delivered by internal R&D, supply chain, and external partners
Lead and manage relationships with CROs, CMOs, CDMOs, and generic pharmaceutical partners, ensuring high-quality execution and accountability
Support strategic supply chain initiatives, including localized manufacturing, lifecycle management, and due diligence activities
Act as a senior technical contributor within cross-functional and matrixed teams, influencing decision-making across development, quality, regulatory, and operations

Required

Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (ideally PhD)
Experience in drug product development and CMC leadership within pharma or biotech
Deep technical expertise across: Oral solid dose (OSD) Sterile and parenteral products & Biologics highly preferred!
Strong background in clinical and commercial manufacturing, including scale-up and technical transfer
Demonstrated experience working within complex, cross-functional R&D and manufacturing environments
Proven ability to lead and influence internal teams and external partners without direct line authority
Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability, and sound technical judgment

Deep technical expertise across: Oral solid dose (OSD) Sterile and parenteral products & Biologics highly preferred!
Location preferences: NC highly preferred or MD or PA considered!
