Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead all field engineering activities with a focus on developing processes and procedures based on lessons learned, documented processes and procedures, industry best practices, and engineering disciplines supporting electrical, electro-mechanical, and mechanically operated sensor systems supporting the IST program and National Security Interests
Work with the Field Service Team in a professional and courteous manner
Provide Team leadership in support of training, mentorship, communicating project direction, scope, and reviewing work
Interact with customer community/senior-level management/end users to identify needs, solutions, improvement opportunities, and issue resolution
Work with the Sustainment Team to support developing procedures and checklists in support of quality, system inspections, completion of work, sustainment, and work order status and reporting
Support the development and review of proposals, CDRLs, studies, ECPs, and technical submissions
Support the engineering team in performing demonstrations, studies of software solutions, Artificial Intelligence (Ai) systems and techniques, radar, camera, network, communications, software, and power technologies to include failure analysis, fault isolation, technology refreshment, design changes, obsolescence, usability, repairability, function, and other solution areas as directed by management and the customer
Lead Field Service Representative in troubleshooting, replacement of components, calibration, testing, and verifying system operation and performance for IST systems, consisting of radars, cameras, networks, communications, software, and power technologies
Work with the engineering team to optimize renewable, hybrid, and off-grid energy and power system settings based on lessons learned, industry standards, and program requirements
Identify and recommend opportunities for technology improvement that position solutions with competitive advantages and features, either as part of a project, proposal, or an Internal Research and Development (IRAD) effort
Work with the Field Service Representatives to deploy, integrate, test, and commission systems consistent with technical requirements, manufacturer specifications, and project data
Assist in the development of marketing materials, technical content, briefings, and project deliverables
Work with the Engineering and Business Development Team to support the development and review of proposal and RFI content, including technical documents, procedures, solution sets, and partner strategies
Other duties as assigned
Verify and review sustainment equipment operability prior to deployment and following return to confirm radars, cameras, network, communications, software, and power components are diagnosed and transitioned to the warehouse and ILSS team for proper disposition
Work with the procurement team on reviewing consumables and component compliance with system designs and specifications
Work with internal teams and 3rd party product suppliers to articulate existing designs, repair activities, obsolescence, product improvement, new/replacement equipment
Create and implement system commissioning packages per project requirements
Participate in internal and external document and program reviews to support customer activities, programmatic activities, and subcontractor/vendor activities
Develop and review technical content, including CAD, 3D, and 3-Line electrical drawing, design packages, drawings, models, build and production data
Validate designs for installations
Perform on-site commissioning with the customer (as required)
Support the development and review of training guides and manuals for operations and maintenance of systems and designs
Participate as a vital crew member and contribute towards the success of the projects and the organization
Promote a team approach and maintain communications with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas
Collaborate with other company personnel to meet organizational deadlines and objectives
Mentor and develop team members to assume and lead program activities
Complete daily reports, timecards, and reports
Develop and report on forecasts, proposals, business snapshots, and financial performance
Perform timecard updates daily and sign timecards weekly to support reporting and payroll activities
Perform job-related reporting requirements per contract and corporate policies and practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
Technical certification in the field service industry required
Minimum six (6+) years of sustainment experience in radar, cameras, network, communications, software, systems, and power solutions supporting US Government customers and national security interests in sensor technologies
Must have, or be eligible for a U.S. Government Security Clearance (DoD Secret; or DHS Suitability)
Understanding of IST system designs
Failure isolation and root cause analysis in large multifaceted systems
Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies
Familiarity with fundamental tools in troubleshooting systems
Ability to use design software to create, update, and review design drawings IAW specifications
Ability to use procedure documents to implement troubleshooting, repair, replacement, calibration, and testing in order to return systems to full operational availability
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of quality control systems and testing methodologies
Strong ability to create maintenance documentation of systems, testing, quality, and results for input into government database
Strong written and oral communication skills with experience working with senior leadership in defense and federal agencies
Must be able to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment, post-offer background check and drug screening

Preferred

Two (2) years of management experience preferred
Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams, project management, designing, building, integrating, and deploying radar, camera, network, communications, software, and power solutions
