Balfour Beatty is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Carolinas Division in Wilmington, NC. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience in all phases of construction and serves as the foundation for future growth within Balfour Beatty’s project operations track.

Responsibilities

Promote and enforce safety rules and regulations; assist with subcontractor orientations and safety documentation; perform and document weekly inspections in alignment with Zero Harm®

Attend and document preconstruction meetings; help develop scopes of work and bid packages; support document control and distribution of revised specifications and drawings

Assist in identifying long-lead items, maintaining material expediting logs, and preparing submittal schedules; participate in pull planning and critical path meetings

Administer the RFI and submittal process, ensuring all documents are coordinated across trades, reviewed, and approved in support of project schedule milestones

Track subcontractor progress and ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and quality requirements; maintain as-built drawings and documentation

Assist in developing and maintaining quality control programs and tracking systems; coordinate inspections and help resolve deficiencies

Support the change management process, prepare progress reports, and assist with meeting documentation and correspondence

Assist in project turnover by compiling closeout documents, owner manuals, and as-builts; coordinate owner training and ensure all items are properly documented and delivered

Required

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field

Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and project coordination principles

Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Demonstrated interest in pursuing a long-term career in construction management

Preferred

Internship or co-op experience with a commercial general contractor and/or 1+ year past experience

Proficiency with project management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, or Bluebeam

OSHA 30 certification and First Aid training (or ability to obtain)
