Remote AI Solutions Architect
Kentro is a dynamic community dedicated to innovation and professional growth. They are seeking an experienced AI Solutions Architect to serve as a strategic thought leader, advising on AI strategy and shaping enterprise AI roadmaps for federal IT operations.

Responsibilities
Engage with VA OIT leadership (CIO, PDAS, SES) to understand business objectives and strategic aspirations related to AI, data science, and system reliability
Articulate complex AI/ML concepts in clear, accessible language to non-technical executive stakeholders
Collaborate with government stakeholders to formulate AI strategies aligned with VA mission goals and federal compliance requirements
Create executive-ready work products including PowerPoint presentations, strategic roadmaps, and briefing materials
Conduct in-depth analysis of OTG operational requirements, translating them into actionable AI/ML initiatives
Design end-to-end AI solution architectures that integrate with existing systems (ServiceNow, monitoring tools, data platforms) while accounting for federal security and compliance constraints
Develop technical roadmaps for AI capability maturation, including phased implementation, dependency mapping, and risk mitigation
Perform process and system mapping to identify automation opportunities and workflow optimization
Coordinate with Chief AI Office (CAIO) and Azure platform teams on platform decisions and capability gap analysis
Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies and methodologies for applicability to federal IT operations, incident management, and system reliability
Assess data maturity and quality as prerequisites for AI implementation
Stay current on federal AI policy, CAIO guidance, and government-wide AI adoption patterns
Translate between technical teams, government clients, and senior leadership—bridging operational reality and strategic vision
Prepare and deliver compelling presentations that convey complex technical information for executive audiences
Build trusted advisor relationships with government stakeholders from technical SMEs to SES leadership
Demonstrate high contextual awareness of VA OIT organizational dynamics, stakeholder priorities, and sensitivities
Monitor progress of AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with established strategies
Support government decision-making on platform selections, vendor evaluations, and capability trade-offs
Document lessons learned and evolve OTG's AI approach based on outcomes and feedback
Qualification
Required
Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related technical field. 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
10+ years professional experience in data engineering, data integration, or ML operations roles
Solutions architecture experience designing and implementing technical solutions in enterprise environments
Prior experience developing roadmaps, use cases, and technical frameworks for complex systems or AI initiatives
Federal government experience, particularly within VA or Department of Defense
Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and applications with ability to assess technical feasibility and architectural implications
Experience with at least one major cloud AI platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Systems engineering knowledge including requirements definition, system integration, and lifecycle management
Understanding of ITSM data models and ability to assess data quality for AI/ML applications
Process and system mapping capabilities to visualize workflows, data flows, and integration points
Understanding of enterprise system integration patterns, APIs, data architectures, and cloud/hybrid/on-premise environments
Familiarity with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred) and IT operations concepts
Analytical mindset with ability to assess complex challenges and formulate effective solutions
Strong research skills with keen eye for industry trends and emerging technologies
Critical thinking to evaluate trade-offs, identify risks, and recommend balanced solutions
Systems thinking to understand interdependencies and organizational dynamics
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to create executive-ready deliverables including presentations, strategic documents, and proposals
Experience presenting to senior leadership and translating technical concepts into business value
Strong storytelling ability connecting technical solutions to mission outcomes
Genuine intellectual curiosity about how things work and how they might work better
Brings clarity and frameworks to complex problems

Experience with ServiceNow platform, especially incident management and data structures
Prior work with Chief AI Office (CAIO) or federal AI governance processes
Experience with Azure AI services or similar cloud AI platforms
Background in reliability engineering, SRE practices, or IT operations
Experience working in distributed, remote teams
Prior consulting or advisory experience translating between technical and executive stakeholders
