Responsibilities
Ensure high equipment availability and optimizes system performance
Use preventive and predictive maintenance processes
Rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns
Quickly restore equipment to service in support of successful operation of the supply chain facility
Work with other Target engineers and operational partners to optimize the performance and flow of the material handling equipment
Lead building automation, continuous improvement, and new installation initiatives
Serve as an escalated support resource during downtime events
Ensure proper processes and training procedures are implemented as part of root cause analysis
Proactively monitor the overall health of the building’s material handling equipment
Serve as an expert who understands material flow optimization, system controls logic, and facilitates and trains effective troubleshooting techniques
Proactively monitor and maintain the buildings systems
Maintain expertise around all electrical, mechanical and control system communication aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site
Use diagnostic software and tools to collect and analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to the building automation
Conduct technical interviews for internal and external technician candidates
Evaluate technical skills and abilities
Train and coach internal technicians
Support training plan development and progress follow up
Maintain thorough knowledge and facilitate site training on appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment
Ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Work well under pressure
Qualification
Required
Two or four-year Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent degree / experience
Available to work all days and shifts (24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation, including holidays)
Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
Experience with installing and maintaining many types of software and hardware
Strong organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple tasks and teams
Extensive Experience In The Following Areas: Automated conveyor systems and controls, Work order management, Preventive/predictive maintenance procedures, Blueprint and schematic reading, Industrial Electrical, HMI interfaces and programming, Industrial Controls, Industrial Electronics, Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs, Server based controls, National Electrical Code (NEC)
