Responsibilities
Review timecards, pay amounts, and special payments for accuracy using established policies and laws
Investigate and document payroll discrepancies
Monitor payroll deductions and adjustments, including garnishments, union dues, deferred compensation, and voluntary insurance costs
Respond to payroll and timekeeping inquiries; provide training as needed
Create and post journal entries for various accounting functions, including payroll
Process accounts payable, payment requests, and expense reports
Prepare and submit government reporting, including taxes and retirement payments; ensure compliance with changes
Generate routine and ad hoc reports for management
Document payroll procedures and system changes. Maintain compliance with all contracts and policies
Pursue ongoing training for payroll system/process improvement. Research industry best practices
Handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally
Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree or equivalent, or three years of progressive payroll experience, including two years' experience with complex payroll systems
At least one year of accounts payable experience or equivalent education and experience
Advanced knowledge of computerized time/attendance and payroll systems; proficient in Microsoft Office
Strong mathematical skills (discounts, interest, commissions, etc.) and analytical abilities
Effective communicator across diverse groups; able to interpret written, oral, and diagram instructions
Inclusive mindset with a commitment to valuing differences and fostering collaboration
Preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
