Responsibilities
Complete project and part qualification deliverables, including Supplier pFMEA, Process Validations (IQ/OQ/PQ), Inspection Reports, Gage R&R, and Process Capability Analysis
Work with suppliers to execute cost reductions, capacity improvements, and risk mitigation initiatives
Select the appropriate process and supplier for each part, considering long-term fit and total cost of ownership
Manage supplier changes, including manufacturing process changes, production optimization, facility changes, new equipment qualification, and new line validations
Drive specification and drawing changes through the engineering change order process
Own and close supplier variances from root cause analysis through corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Prioritize and advance multiple concurrent projects effectively
Clearly communicate project status and updates to key stakeholders
Develop and maintain a long-term vision for supplier development and continuous improvement
Generate key supplier metrics and ensure timely achievement of targets
Drive suppliers to improve manufacturing performance using Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and negotiation techniques
Implement corrective and preventive actions for supplier processes and ensure accurate documentation
Provide timely, data-driven supply base health information and recommendations to management
Prepare and deliver supplier communications and scorecards independently
Support new product introductions by assessing supplier readiness, developing ramp plans, and engaging suppliers in design for manufacturability (DFM)
Evaluate and close customer complaints, manufacturing variance requests, and first article inspections
Assess corrective and preventive actions and identify opportunities for improvement at supplier sites
Qualification
Required
BS degree in Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
Minimum 8 years of related experience with a BS, 6 years with an MS, or 3 years with a PhD in Engineering
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities for executive audiences
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proven experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC programs at suppliers
Strong project management and supplier development experience
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes (metal fabrication, plastics, electronics, and/or contract manufacturing)
Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab)
Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings (GD&T)
Familiarity with Agile and SAP systems
Preferred
CAD experience with 3D modeling tools
Experience working in a high-volume medical device company
