Traveling Survey Crew Chief (Remote)
OWN, Inc. is an engineering firm that believes in the power of employee-ownership. They are seeking a Traveling Survey Crew Chief to lead and conduct various types of surveys, oversee survey equipment, and mentor crew members while traveling extensively across the central USA.

Responsibilities
Lead and conduct various types of surveys, including boundary, topographical, and ALTA surveys in states across the central USA
Travel up to 80% of the time
Utilize GPS, Robotic Total Station, and conventional Total Station equipment to perform accurate and precise field measurements and data collection
Conduct construction staking activities, ensuring proper placement and alignment of project features according to design plans
Oversee and maintain survey equipment, ensuring its proper functioning, calibration, and care
Train and mentor crew members on equipment operation, surveying techniques, safety protocols, and company standards
Collaborate with project managers and surveyors to interpret survey data, verify accuracy, and prepare detailed reports
Prepare CAD drawings using software such as Civil 3D or Carlson Survey, ensuring accurate representation of survey data and adherence to project specifications
Perform occasional office work, including data processing, documentation, and project coordination
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 2-3+ years of experience with topographic and ALTA surveys
Relevant surveying experience, demonstrating expertise in conducting a variety of surveys and construction staking
Proficiency in operating survey equipment, including GPS receivers, Robotic Total Stations, and conventional Total Stations
Strong knowledge of surveying techniques, procedures, and industry best practices
Experience in preparing CAD drawings using software such as Civil 3D or Carlson Survey
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and coordinate a survey crew
High level of attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring precise measurements and data collection
Located in the central US or within 100 miles of one of our offices
Ability to travel up to 80%
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred
Possession of a valid PLS (Professional Land Surveyor) or LSIT (Land Surveyor in Training) license is highly desired, but not required
Knowledge of survey-related software and technologies is a plus
