Field Applications & Technical Support Engineer

Jack Tyler Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Field Applications and Technical Support Engineer to interface with team members and customers, ensuring accurate equipment selection and technical support. The role involves generating quotes, troubleshooting equipment performance issues, and collaborating with sales teams to provide timely solutions for clients.

Responsibilities

Select and price equipment for all Aftermarket retrofit projects and include field install crew when installation is required
Learn and study JTE’s entire line card and know how to fully quote solutions with all lines JTE represents
Produce timely, thorough, and accurate quotes using knowledge of all JTE product lines and technical expertise to quote correct solutions for customers
Understand the relationship between pumps, motors, mixers, valves, actuators, controls and other complementary equipment to develop a complete equipment package to best address the customer needs
Be the key resource for assessment and troubleshooting of post-sale equipment performance issues. This include diagnostics, coordination of OEM support, triage and interim solutions until final problem resolution is achieved for the customer’s process
Review all specs to ensure quotes meet requirements, when required
Create pump “skids” for end users, utilizing existing layouts or creating as needed (using CAD)
Effectively collaborate with the outside sales team to gather all needed information to provide timely and accurate quotes
Correspond with customers, internal team members, and suppliers via email (or client preferred method which can include customer on-site visits) to receive order specifications, verify product availability, ensure order accuracy, and provide order status updates
Ensure warranties, related accessories, and spare parts are understood and included in quotes as needed
Work closely with Service Manager if installation is being offered for every quote to determine appropriate installation requirements and labor needs to include in quotes as needed, specifically understanding confined space requirements and impact on labor amounts needed
Be a go-to technical resource by finding answers for technicians when they are in the field and have technical questions about the equipment
Meet with all people involved with any field installation work and provide operations and maintenance manuals to techs prior to their scheduled jobs to give them time to review and understand the installation and startup procedures of the equipment. Sire visits as required to address issues
Establish personal rapport with potential and current customers
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, vendor training, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks
Effectively utilize Clickup as the internal software maintaining all customer and project information
Ensure JTE revenue is maximized by following up on quotes
Answer calls and route to appropriate staff as needed
Must be willing to flex and provide support for other tasks and team members as needed
Must be willing to travel to customer location to assess and troubleshoot issues
Be responsible for building and creating accurate cost worksheets (in Excel), thorough scope of supply for an aftermarket project, and follow correct order entry process of sales order
Conduct after action reports with techs, Olen, and service writers to evaluate job’s efficiency, safety, and profitability. Review sales order and add or subtract parts, equipment, and labor hours to reflect what happened during the project before completing the job in CU or MAS
Be the point of contact to create clear communication between owner, contractor, and JTE Service to ensure a successful, safe, and efficient installation and startup

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
Experience with CAD, required
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
Experience and/or comfort level working directly with customers
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong Problem-solving abilities
High degree of initiative
Strong sense of urgency
Product knowledge of JTE lines and ability to quickly learn new products and offerings
Demonstrate dependability by regular and prompt attendance
