Responsibilities
Follows the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
Demonstrates knowledge of and follows universal precautions
Utilizes computer information systems and specialized equipment
Adheres to organization and governmental standards, rules and regulations
Promotes good customer service by demonstrating appropriate telephone etiquette
Performs waived testing with supervisory discretion
Performs clerical duties
Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct
Regular and dependable attendance
Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb
Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy
Maintains cleanliness of laboratory
Initiates assistance to co-workers and customers
Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies
Reports complaints/problems to supervisor or person in charge
Follows the quality control policies and procedures of the laboratory to ensure validity of patient test results
Follows the laboratory’s established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance and documents according to laboratory procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Bachelor of Science degree or ASCP medical laboratory assistant certification and Associate's degree
Preferred
Clinical specimen processing experience
