Vice President of Sales- Renewables
Virginia Transformer Corp is the largest U.S.-owned producer of power transformers in North America, and they are seeking a Vice President of Sales - Renewables. This senior executive leader will be responsible for setting and executing the company’s commercial strategy across the renewable energy market, leading a national sales organization, and driving long-term growth.

Responsibilities
Define and execute the company’s renewables sales strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives and capacity planning
Drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and market share across solar, wind, BESS, and renewable infrastructure segments
Identify emerging market trends, policy-driven opportunities, and long-term demand signals within the renewable energy ecosystem
Serve as the senior executive interface for key renewable developers, EPCs, utilities, and strategic partners
Lead major commercial negotiations, pricing strategy, and long-cycle project pursuits
Build trusted, long-term customer relationships focused on reliability, delivery performance, and technical capability
Lead, develop, and scale the renewables sales organization, including AVPs, regional sales leaders, and sales engineers
Establish performance expectations, incentive structures, and accountability aligned with revenue and margin objectives
Partner with HR and executive leadership on talent development, succession planning, and organizational design
Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to align sales commitments with manufacturing capacity, lead times, and delivery schedules
Ensure disciplined forecasting, backlog management, and demand planning
Champion the voice of the customer internally to drive product development, lead-time improvements, and operational excellence
Own renewables sales forecasting, pipeline management, and KPI performance
Ensure disciplined pricing, contract risk management, and profitability across all renewable projects
Support strategic capital investment decisions related to renewable product lines and capacity expansion
Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to corporate strategy and long-term planning
Promote a culture of accountability, safety, ethical business practices, and continuous improvement
Represent the company at industry events, customer forums, and strategic partner engagements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
15+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in renewable energy, power transformers, electrical equipment, or energy infrastructure
Proven executive-level success leading large, project-based sales organizations
Deep understanding of EPC contracting, pricing strategy, and long-cycle capital projects
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
Ability and willingness to work on-site in Roanoke, VA with regular customer and industry travel
Preferred
MBA or advanced technical degree
Direct experience supporting utility-scale renewable projects
Knowledge of grid interconnection requirements, energy storage systems, and renewable compliance standards
Experience operating within a manufacturing-intensive, engineered-to-order environment
Familiarity with domestic content requirements and renewable policy incentives
