Responsibilities
Directly manage a growing team of 4 Backend Engineers
Hire and retain extraordinary Backend Engineers
Set the bar for engineering performance and quality standards
Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
Maintain a healthy, productive working environment for engineers
Plan and execute on backend, infrastructure, security, and architectural investments in coordination with Product and Engineering Leadership
Coordinate SOC2 and compliance efforts with the team and contractors
Qualification
Required
Has worked at an early-stage, product-based startup before (<50 people)
Experience building production software with LLMs-in-the-loop
Experience experimenting and implementing emerging frameworks, practices and standards with LLMs
Experience with Django, Postgres, Redis, AWS, etc
Able to move quickly on tasks while producing high-quality results
Direct and candid with leadership, peers, and direct reports
Experience mentoring and growing employees
Experience as an architect - proven ability to design and implement robust and scalable systems with flexible and scalable UI that meets future needs
Experience overseeing and managing projects across teams
Experience working on a product in a regulated domain or where data privacy + security were essential
