Senior Nuclear Engineer and Physicist

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's naval nuclear reactors and training the Sailors who operate them. They are seeking a Senior Nuclear Engineer and Physicist to contribute to the performance and reliability of the submarine fleet by conducting reactor plant analysis, performing thermal and hydraulic calculations, and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

Perform in-depth reactor plant analysis to ensure top-tier performance
Conduct critical thermal and hydraulic calculations and assessments
Document and communicate technical work with precision
Mentor and guide the next generation of engineering talent
Drive innovation within the reactor thermal and performance communities

Required

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company
All candidates must be U.S. citizens
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707

Preferred

Previous experience in reactor design, engineering or operation
Project management experience
Technical writing experience
