Designer - Chassis & Suspension - GM Defense

Responsibilities
Support component and subsystem requirements
Develop, refine, and finalize Criteria and Typical Sections
Develop Standard Modeling Methods and Processes
Proficient in Design Standards and Best Practices
Demonstrated application of design operations and processes (Standard modeling, Clearance Analysis, etc.)
Applies manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs
Facilitates and participates in Design Reviews, both scheduled and informal workstation reviews, as required
Documents and maintains material, mass, and other part specifications within the NX file
Supports CAE with studies to improve designs
Completes, analyzes and applies NX Analysis results for solutions of their subsystem / components
Supports the Global Vehicle Development Process and the math fidelity for each cycle
Performs appropriate studies/alternatives and participates in recommendations for program direction
Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in area of responsibility
Supports lessons learned, updating best practices and learning sessions with program teams
Creates math data models of advanced, complex components, systems and subsystems
Proactively communicates effectively with all stakeholders
Completes system/subsystem parts to meet timing requirements with quality
Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities and share knowledge with the team
Supports current product change management processes
Qualification
Required
10 years of experience in product design or a related field
Proficient in NX, Teamcenter, Teamcenter Visualization, Design for Fabrication, DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and Suspension Development
Excellent oral and written communication skills
High level of Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others including global partners
Working knowledge of CAE and eGD&T
Knowledge of product design concepts and manufacturing processes (i.e. injection molding, stamping, casting, extrusion, machining, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
Ability to work independently to solve highly complex problems and lead teams to consensus when needed
Understanding of Specification and Release terms and systems
Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee)
Preferred
Complete Vehicle design experience
Defense Industry design knowledge
Mil-Spec Knowledge
Knowledge of commonly used materials and related properties
Ability to synthesize design solutions for difficult problems
Understand packaging constraints and designing in context
Ability to apply advanced tool sets to increase robustness and efficiencies in designs
Understanding of analysis tools
