Community Center Services Manager

NEOGOV is seeking a Community Center Services Manager to join the Village of Wellington's Community Center Services Department. Responsibilities

Evaluates and provides managerial oversight to the planning, development, implementation, and administration of division programs and events; evaluates current offerings in relation to community interests; promotes public interest and awareness of program and event availability
Works closely with local organizations, schools, nonprofits, and community groups to identify needs, expand offerings, and foster collaborative programming opportunities
Oversees marketing and outreach efforts for cultural programs and events, working collaboratively with internal and external partners to promote participation and community awareness
Coordinates and supports youth, senior, and intergenerational programming that enhances cultural access, lifelong learning, and community connection
Partners with faith-based and community organizations to coordinate assistance programs and cultural initiatives; maintains accurate records for donated items and sponsored programming
Evaluates facilities, programs, and events to measure participation, impact, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with community needs; develops recommendations for enhancement and growth; monitors and reviews record maintenance activities, e.g., inventory, equipment, supplies, work schedules, time and attendance, registration, program evaluation
Coordinates large-scale and signature community events, including logistics, scheduling, staffing, vendor coordination, permits, and on-site operations
Prepares and manages program and event budgets; analyzes and justifies expenditures; prepares budget requests; monitors revenues and expenses; prepares administrative and fiscal reports; and actively seeks sponsorships, grants, and partnerships to offset costs
Ensures compliance with applicable laws, safety standards, and licensing requirements, including movie, music, and performance rights
Develops and updates departmental policies, procedures, and short- and long-term plans related to cultural programming, events, and facility use
Prepares written reports, presentations, and correspondence to inform policymakers, advisory boards, management, staff, and the public regarding program performance, initiatives, and outcomes
Serves as staff liaison to the Senior Advisory Committee; supports committee initiatives, coordinates programming input, and provides regular updates to management
Communicates regularly with employees, volunteers, contractors, and management regarding program status, event planning milestones, and operational needs; obtains approvals and guidance as required
Responds to emergency call-ins and supports Village operations during hurricanes or other critical events
Supervises full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, contractors, and volunteers involved in programming, events, and facility operations
Reviews and evaluates work methods, procedures, and event operations; identifies issues and implements improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and service delivery
Assesses workloads and staffing needs; schedules personnel to support programs, events, and facility use
Selects, trains, coaches, motivates, and evaluates employees; coordinates training; addresses performance issues; and makes recommendations regarding discipline and termination
Participates in the development and administration of the departmental budget; forecasts staffing and operational needs; approves expenditures; and implements budgetary adjustments as necessary

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Recreation and Leisure, Arts Administration, Event Management, Marketing, or a related field required
Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in recreational or cultural programming, event management, facility programming, and/or community-based initiatives, including supervisory responsibilities
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License and the ability to operate a Village-owned vehicle in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and trends in recreational and/or cultural programming, special events, and community-based recreation
Knowledge of event planning logistics, facility scheduling, vendor coordination, sponsorship development, and contract administration
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements related to public events, performances, and other programming
Skill in program and event planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement
Skill in budget development, fiscal management, sponsorship solicitation, and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn and effectively use department-specific and event management software
Ability to develop, analyze, and interpret budgets, contracts, participation data, and performance metrics
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with elected officials, advisory boards, senior leadership, staff, partners, and the public
Ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and motivate staff and volunteers to achieve programmatic and operational goals
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing deadlines, and adapt to changing event and program needs
Ability to analyze problems, identify alternatives, assess risks, and implement sound, practical solutions
Ability to clearly communicate in English, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, and to provide inclusive, equitable public services
