Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic leader of VA OIG's Office of Healthcare Inspections (OHI) and ensures the development and implementation of a successful healthcare inspection program
Be responsible for liaising with high-level healthcare program officials within and outside the VA, as well as members of Congress and congressional staff
Serve as the Chief Medical Advisor to the IG on a wide range of healthcare related policies and activities, establishing short-and-long-range oversight and evaluation strategic plans that address agency priorities
Establish overall OIG goals and objectives as they relate to healthcare inspections and priorities
Develop policies and procedures covering healthcare inspection activities, in coordination with other OIG directorates
Maintain effective relationships with federal and private healthcare organizations, establishing industry best practices and incorporating into OIG activities. Examples include HHS, JCAHO, CMS, state inspection agencies, and licensing boards

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National
Evidence of progressively responsible executive level leadership and supervisory experience that is indicative of senior executive level management capability
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the appropriate bodies
A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school with proof of equivalency
At least 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of their position or equivalent experience and training
Must be Board Certified and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician
Your resume should demonstrate accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications
Ability to direct and manage a comprehensive nationwide inspection or evaluation program
Experience in the management or delivery of health care
Demonstrated knowledge of the American system of government, commitment to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law
Demonstrated ability to strategically and efficiently manage resources, budget effectively, cut wasteful spending
Demonstrated knowledge, ability and technical competence to effectively and reliably produce work that is of exceptional quality
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a group toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals
Demonstrated ability to achieve both individual and organizational results
