Steering Sub-System Lead Engineer (SSLE)

Responsibilities
Perform as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for requirements creation and work products for Steering ART
Collaborate with Feature Owners, System Owners, Functional System Architects to align and drive a common direction for requirements vision/decomposition to the team
Perform complex sub-system analysis to define functional controls
Develop and define requirements for applicable sub-systems or ART Solutions
Create and maintain Behavior Technical Specification (BTS) for Steering ART Solutions
Develop block diagrams per Model Based Systems Engineering concepts
Create/Maintain Solution FMEAs for given area of responsibility. Maintain Subsystem FMEAs for VIP
Collaborate with Controls and Software Engineers to review controls design and/or software implementation, ensuring compliance with requirements
Support Testable Functionality Roll-Out Plan (TFRP) definition
Support that testable scenarios meet the intent of BTS requirements
Support the root cause analysis for all applicable sub-system related issues and translate resolutions into new or revised requirements as appropriate
Support development of diagnostics regulations requirements as applicable
Support the development of Safety Requirements
Support Calibration requirements development
Operate in agile development of software-related requirements
Support peripheral meetings with Product Team Members, FSAs, other SSLEs, and Systems Engineers
Support advanced technical work projects that drive future features and vehicle enhancements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering discipline
Minimum of 7 years of Automotive related professional technical/engineering experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience as Automotive SSLE (Subsystem Lead Engineer) or equivalent
Experience with General Chassis Systems/Vehicle Dynamics/Vehicle Integration
Experience with ASIL D safety systems
Strong analytical problem-solving skills, including independent judgment and decision-making skills, where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
Physics-based understanding of the Voice-of-Customer
Ability to effectively communicate issues, status and recommendations to leadership
Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
Ability to prioritize work with only limited direction from manager
Preferred
Masters or PhD in Engineering with an emphasis on Controls
Minimum of 5 years of experience with General Chassis Systems/Vehicle Dynamics/Vehicle Integration
Minimum of 3 years of experience with ASIL D safety systems
Experience with safety critical systems (e.g., Brakes, Steering, Propulsion)
Experience related to specifying physics of dynamic electromechanical systems (e.g., Brakes, Steering, Suspension, Electrification, Thermal, etc.)
Experience with calibration, software, and controls development
Experience leveraging simulation environments and plant modeling for testing or requirements generation is a plus (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, CarSim, GT-Power, D-Space, ETAS, etc.)
Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, DOORS Next Gen, Jama Connect, Rhapsody, Markdown, Github, codebeamer, etc.)
Experience with change management tools (e.g., Jira, etc.)
Experience with diagnostics regulations requirements
