Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day engineering execution while contributing to longer-term technical direction and platform evolution

Translate product and business priorities into actionable engineering plans, architectural decisions, and delivery roadmaps

Serve as a hands-on technical leader, staying close to system design, code reviews, and complex technical decisions

Guide development of cloud-native, data-driven systems with a strong emphasis on Python-based backend services

Drive improvements in APIs, data platforms, and interoperability aligned with healthcare standards such as HIPAA, HL7, and FHIR

Build, mentor, and manage high-performing engineering teams with clear expectations around quality, ownership, and accountability

Coach senior engineers and team leads while maintaining strong technical standards

Champion continuous improvement in architecture, technical debt reduction, automation, and DevOps practices

Ensure reliable, on-time delivery across multiple products and initiatives

Establish and monitor engineering KPIs related to delivery velocity, quality, and system reliability

Partner with Product, Security, and Operations to ensure performance, scalability, and regulatory compliance

Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and delivery risks

Support infrastructure modernization, CI/CD enhancements, and cloud reliability initiatives

Manage team capacity, external vendors, and engineering budgets within defined constraints

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred

10+ years of software engineering experience, including several years in engineering leadership or management roles

Strong background building and maintaining Python-based backend systems, APIs, and cloud-native services

Experience working in AWS-based environments and modern DevOps toolchains

Proven ability to balance hands-on technical work with people leadership responsibilities

Solid understanding of distributed systems, data-driven architectures, and system scalability

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Track record of leading teams through growth, change, and increasing technical complexity

Preferred

Experience in healthcare technology or other highly regulated environments strongly preferred

Experience managing budgets, vendors, or external partners is a plus
