Tribal Grant Accountant

Finley & Cook PLLC is seeking a Tribal Grant Accountant to manage grant activity, prepare budgets and reports, and work directly with clients to ensure grant funds are tracked and reported correctly. This role is crucial in helping Tribal programs stay funded, compliant, and focused on serving their communities.

Responsibilities

Prepare journal entries, budgets, and recurring grant-related tasks
Review balances to understand what’s been spent and what remains available
Analyze expenses to ensure they are allowable, documented properly, and coded correctly
Prepare grant reports and reconciliations to support drawdowns
Maintain grant files in compliance with applicable regulations and standards
Respond to client questions and explain grant requirements clearly
Support audit requests and year-end reporting
Collaborate with teammates and leadership as priorities shift

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Extensive accounting experience may be considered in place of a degree)
At least two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
At least one year of experience with fund accounting

Preferred

Experience with federal grants and indirect cost principles
Experience with Native American Tribal entities
CPA certification
