PUMP MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and related wastewater equipment
Perform preventative maintenance inspections, including lubricating bearings and gear boxes, replacing filters, cleaning wet wells, packing pumps, and performing routine site maintenance
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment failures to restore proper operation
Dismantle, rebuild, and overhaul equipment such as pumps, grinders, blowers, engines, diffusers, gauges, and grit collectors
Service and maintain electrical generators used for emergency power during outages
Participate in facility, grounds, and site maintenance activities
Follow safety standards, including OSHA requirements related to wastewater operations
Perform related duties as required

Required

High school diploma or GED and five to seven years of experience in pump repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to obtain a Grade I Wastewater Collection (WWC) certification within one year of employment
Possession of a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire
Tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain may also be required
