RESEARCH ASST I (Student/Work Study)
The University of Michigan is seeking undergraduate students to work in Dr. Emily Lavering's lab on a project studying the bacteria Streptococcus mutans. The role involves learning sterile techniques, culturing bacteria, and developing new research methods related to S. mutans.

Responsibilities
Learn and practice sterile techniques
Culture bacteria (in both solid and liquid media)
Measure bacterial growth using optical densities
Learn various bacteriophage techniques
Perform biofilm assays
Help develop new research methods
Write a paper or make a poster clearly communicating results
Qualification
Required
Must be a UM-Flint undergraduate student
Students must have availability on Tuesday and or Thursday afternoons
Preferred
Completion of a biology or chemistry lab course
