Responsibilities
Flex your strength and knowledge of GraphQL in a distributed system, DevOps, service development, and support
Define and ensure services are built to Humana standards and governance guidelines and industry best practices
Architect and write code to implement a high-quality, scalable, future-proof platform that will have effective system boundaries and will support long-term vision & strategy
Focus on production readiness for the team including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting
Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet the team's technical vision
Work closely with product managers, designers, and peer engineering teams to define project requirements and execution plans
Work within an Agile culture to foster continuous improvement at the team and departmental level
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in engineering
3+ years of deep Federated GraphQL experience is required
3+ years of hands-on Java development experience
Proven experience implementing and consuming GraphQL APIs (GraphQL Java, Apollo, or similar frameworks)
Expertise with a modern programming language (such as NodeJS, TypeScript, Rust, Java, or others)
Experience with common open source tools and framework, eg: Azure Devops, GitHub, React, Java microservices, Kafka, Kubernetes, etc
Experience operating distributed services at scale, including familiarity with observability tools, logging techniques, troubleshooting, and incident response
Excellent communication skills
