Responsibilities

Review, prepare, and organize documentation and files related to legal functions for the Collection Services Bureau
Handle requests from the Office of Attorney General (AG), both Lansing & Detroit
Manage various litigation matters including bankruptcy settlements
Determine Corporate Officer Liability (COL) and/or Successor
Process Power of Attorney (POA) requests
Address Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and other legal related functions
Prepare documentation utilized by Treasury in informal conference and/or Tribunal Hearings
Research, review, and interpret the law associated with the above stated legal functions
Respond verbally and in writing to telephone and written inquiries
Provide support to Legal analysts
Track and compile statistical data associated with collection accounts

Required

Education typically acquired through completion of high school
Departmental Technician 7: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service
Departmental Technician 8: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service
Departmental Technician 8: One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service
Departmental Technician E9: One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service
Departmental Technician E9: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service
Departmental Technician E9: Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service
Departmental Technician 10: Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service
Departmental Technician 10: Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service
Departmental Technician 10: Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service
Departmental Technician 7: Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement
Departmental Technician 8: Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement
Departmental Technician E9: Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement
Departmental Technician 10: Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement
Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position
The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S
