Responsibilities
Refers callers from the public to the Sheriff’s office dispatcher as necessary regarding complaints or requested assistance with stray, vulnerable, or dangerous animals
Receives telephone inquiries regarding lost pets, adoptions, and general questions related to local laws, pet care, and shelter information and directs callers to the appropriate individual or department as necessary
Performs a variety of routine clerical work, e.g., typing, reports processing, documentation verification; gathers, interprets, and prepares information and reports; provides information to supervisor
Performs various specialized clerical work, e.g., processes pet adoptions paperwork, redemptions, refunds, returns, and issue county pet licensing tags
Confirms and verifies vaccination by a veterinarian for redemption of animals
Performs a variety of record keeping duties; manages and maintains department record keeping and filing systems and relevant materials appropriate to assigned unit
Compiles monthly statistical reports and retrieves information from records and logs
Receives payments and issues receipts for impoundment, boarding, licensing, paid euthanasia, donations, adoptions, and rabies vaccinations. Also collects citation fines and surcharges and provides receipts
Explains Animal Control Ordinance to the public; advises citizens on the responsibility of animal ownership; communicates with outside agencies and the public
Performs duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position
Inputs licensing data into chameleon and generates associated reports
Counsels' potential adopters on pet care and responsibility issues
Participates in shelter events
Enters monthly intake and outcome data into Shelter Animals Count (SAC)
Sends rabies certificates to Pet Data as needed
Fills license tags orders for officers to drop off at participating veterinary clinics
Embraces a “one team” approach to accomplish daily tasks, goals, and projects by interacting, cooperating, assisting, training and learning from volunteers
Performs duties as assigned/ necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Six (6) months clerical and customer service experience
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
