L&I DOSH Technical Services Certification Supervisor (PS5)
The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries is seeking a leader for the role of L&I DOSH Technical Services Certification Supervisor. This position involves overseeing multiple certification programs, leading the Adult Entertainment Initiative, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining effective safety programs statewide.
Information Technology
Responsibilities
Serve as the statewide program expert for the Adult Entertainment Initiative
Lead program development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement
Navigate sensitive and complex stakeholder environments with professionalism and emotional intelligence
Respond to legislative inquiries, support compliance staff, and contribute to media and policy analysis
Guide AEI through launch, stabilization, and ongoing refinement in a changing legal landscape
Supervise Program Specialists supporting crane certification, asbestos, fire-resistant materials, high hazards, and charter boats
Set clear expectations, coach performance, manage workloads, and support professional growth
Lead hiring, onboarding, training planning, and performance management
Balance staff needs while maintaining accountability and program outcomes
Jump directly into crane program system migrations and FRMA implementation
Identify risks, remove barriers, and maintain service continuity during transitions
Coordinate across DOSH programs to ensure alignment with policy, law, and operational standards

Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience
A Master's degree and two years of related experience
Eight years of related professional experience
The ability to take action to learn and grow
The ability to take action to meet the needs of others
Relevant experience could include work that combines program leadership, regulatory or policy-driven work, stakeholder engagement, and people management, particularly in environments that are complex, sensitive, or rapidly evolving; leading or coordinating statewide or multi-program initiatives, especially those created in response to new legislation, rulemaking, or executive direction; overseeing application processes, renewals, audits, system transitions, or modernization efforts, as well as coordinating with inspection, compliance, or enforcement staff to ensure consistent implementation; responding to legislative inquiries, preparing briefings, supporting rule development, or representing a program in public, interagency, or executive-level settings
Preferred
Supervisory experience
Experience managing certification, licensing, or compliance-based programs
Highly adaptable and comfortable moving between multiple complex programs
Skilled in emotional intelligence, particularly when working with sensitive subject matter and diverse stakeholders
Confident operating in an ever-changing regulatory environment
A strong communicator who can translate policy into practice
An experienced supervisor who leads with clarity, consistency, and respect
Comfortable making decisions with statewide impact
