PLANT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER I
The State of New Hampshire's Department of Environmental Services is seeking a Plant Maintenance Engineer I. This role involves responsible technical and supervisory work in implementing a maintenance program for wastewater treatment facilities to ensure their uninterrupted operation.

Responsibilities
Performs mechanical repair work in the pump stations and related sewer lines, supervising subordinate employees assigned to maintenance projects and reviewing work for adherence to plans, specifications, and technical trade standards
Evaluates, observes, and inspects equipment and building and grounds in the system; completing repairs as necessary in order to assure continuous operation of the facilities and records data relevant to the operation
Recommends a schedule of equipment and building maintenance, records and files preventative and corrective maintenance functions for equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications
Supervises on-site contract repair work to assure compliance with plans and specifications
Prepares lists of tools, equipment, supplies, and material to be used in building and equipment maintenance and pump station operation activities
Performs maintenance and repair of the system’s interceptor sewers and rights-of-way, including brush and tree removal, resetting of manhole rings and covers, and cleaning of drainage structures
Participates in ongoing training and education on machines within the machine shop as well as fabricating parts for older systems of the pump stations and sewer lines
Provides on-the-job training and instruction to subordinates and new employees to assist them in performing their duties
Continually seeks to improve practices to add quality and value in support of the Department's mission while identifying and eliminating unnecessary or redundant actions
Qualification
Required
Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after completion of high school
Education and experience must be in the field of engineering, maintenance and repair or construction of buildings, facilities, or related equipment, including one year in a supervisory capacity
Valid driver's license
Must be physically able to lift and carry material weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Willing and able to respond to callbacks and to participate in rotating, on-call duty
Must be willing to carry a cell phone to receive notification of callbacks
Must be able to work a schedule which includes weekend and holiday rotation
Must obtain a NH Wastewater Operator 1-OIT minimum certification by passing the Grade 1 written examination within one year of employment
