Contract Litigation Defense Attorney

LHH is partnering with a well-regarded boutique litigation firm seeking a Contract Litigation Defense Attorney on a short-term basis. This part-time, remote-friendly engagement offers substantive motion practice across business, healthcare, and insurance matters, all without big-firm pressure.

Responsibilities

Draft demurrers and prepare responses to pleadings (high-volume, quick turnaround)
Conduct contract and statute analysis; draft research memoranda with clear, practical recommendations
Draft, review, and revise legal documents including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, motions to strike, discovery requests/responses, and pretrial motions
Manage case strategy collaboratively; track deadlines and deliverables; attend occasional in-person work sessions if local
Support discovery (drafting/answering discovery; meet-and-confer correspondence) and hearing preparation as needed
Appear for hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings as required (frequency expected to be limited given part-time scope)
Communicate regularly with supervising attorneys and relevant stakeholders to keep matters moving efficiently

Qualification

Juris Doctor (JD)California BarLitigation defense experienceLegal writingResearch skillsAnalytical skillsMotion practice proficiency

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Minimum 3 years of litigation defense experience with strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
Demonstrated proficiency in dispositive and procedural motion practice (e.g., demurrers, MSJs, oppositions)

Preferred

Active California Bar and good standing preferred (required for demurrer‑heavy pleadings practice)
