Controls Hardware Designer
KUKA is a company focused on engineering and manufacturing solutions, and they are seeking a Controls Hardware Designer to oversee all phases of design and improvement for both new and existing products. The role involves leading a team of designers, managing design processes, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
Take charge of assigned personnel (jr. designers, layout persons, and detailers), assign jobs, tasks, duties and responsibilities and follow up to ensure work is being done properly and efficiently
Lead, manage, follow-up and perform all phases of design, detail, check, release, programming, debugging all controls designs on projects assigned in accordance with KUKA Engineering Department Procedures
Prepare actual designs using design software
Perform comparative analysis of designs and drawings, to ensure conformances to KUKA and customer standards specifications, and good engineering practices
Ensure that designs and all purchased components and parts will function and perform their intended task in the environment in which they operate for meeting all designated R & M requirements and life expectancies based on duty cycles and cycle time
Perform field service as required on equipment (domestic and international). Fill out field service reports in detail and interface with the customer on resolution and correction of problems and present a positive impression of KUKA
Learn to generate machine and/or system detailed sequence of operation with cycle times and cylinder sizes, motor sizes, etc
Knowledge and experience using electronic laboratory test equipment, such as Oscilloscopes, Signal Analyzers and computer based data acquisition systems
Knowledge and experience in electronic instrumentation such as torque meters, flow meters, pressure transducers, load cells, LVDT’s, etc. and other low voltage devices and interpretations of their signals
Ability to perform computer software programming and screen development, etc
Demonstrated ability to produce test and/or assembly machine layouts using AutoCAD or similar software
Complete engineering within budget and delivery requirements
Assist in machine debug, customer training, production meetings, write ups, approvals and try out as requested
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree and/or 3-5 years' experience in related field required or equivalent amount of education and/or experience in related field
Minimum 3 years' experience and knowledge of controls design relating to the automotive power train industry and assembly systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Proficient in logic programming for most PLC systems
Proficient with recent software such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems, Solidworks & AutoDesk Software, Visio
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows XP or higher
Preferred
B.S.E.E. - Electrical Design Technology and Engineering in electronics, electrical or fluidics
5-10 years experience in designing machine tool controls systems for assembly or test equipment
5-10 years experience in various controls system hardware (P.C., P.L.C., communications, and instrumentation signal conditioning) architecture
3-5 years experience in Failure Mode Effect Analysis
