$35/hr - $45.68/hreTeam is seeking a Research Assistant II (Clinical Nurse) to support oncology clinical trials by ensuring patient safety, protocol compliance, and high-quality clinical care. This role involves collaboration with investigators and research staff to ensure effective and ethical conduct of clinical research.

Responsibilities
Adhere to federal, state, institutional, and sponsor regulations governing clinical research
Follow NEXT Oncology SOPs and study-specific protocols
Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure timely and compliant study activities
Collaborate with investigators, pharmacy, and research staff to ensure proper handling and accountability of study drugs
Support and facilitate informed consent discussions, addressing potential barriers such as language, literacy, or patient distress
Ensure informed consent is obtained prior to performing any study-related procedures
Assess patient comprehension and ensure timely re-consenting when required
Perform patient assessments, including vital signs and pre-exam procedures
Assist providers during consultations, treatments, procedures, and follow-up visits
Document medical history, symptoms, and clinical findings accurately in the medical record
Coordinate patient care and serve as a liaison with internal departments and external providers
Educate patients and families on clinical conditions, procedures, medications, and study requirements
Triage patient calls for urgent care, referrals, testing, and insurance pre-certifications
Ensure completion of all protocol-required activities, including labs, scans, pharmacokinetics, and study visits
Monitor patient adherence to study medications and document compliance
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and institutional standards
Resolve documentation discrepancies and ensure data integrity
Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
Collaborate with investigators to evaluate treatment responses and determine dose or schedule modifications
Ensure effective communication between clinical and research teams
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Active Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license
Preferred
Oncology experience preferred
Clinical trial or research experience preferred
