Sr Staff Accountant
SFE- Southwest Foodservice Excellence is seeking a Sr Staff Accountant who will apply accepted accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare accurate financial reports. The role involves managing monthly accounting processes, ensuring compliance with policies, and providing strategic recommendations to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities
Assist in managing monthly MEALS (accounting software) process
Compile financial statements/invoices for SFE customers
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
Meet all financial reporting deadlines
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes
Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
Analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
Calculate, prepare and file necessary tax filings for all state & federal jurisdictions
Prepare for financial audit and coordinate the audit process
Oversee accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
Perform Balance Sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules
Prepare journal entries
Provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data
Responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance
Cross train as back-ups for other staff in the case of emergencies
Review and research accounting transactions
Fully understand and comply with all applicable federal, state, county and municipal laws, regulations and rules including those that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements in regards to SFE and district employees and customers and operations
Exercise sound judgment and discretion with respect to any matter not specifically addressed by the Company’s policies
Other functions, duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or which are necessary or appropriate to the position
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
5 + years' experience in accounting is required
Effective Communication Skills (Written & Verbal)
Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
Ability to succeed in a team environment
Customer Service Oriented
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls
Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
Excellent organization skills
Ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to generate bold, creative ideas to improve performance and processes
Intense drive and passion to learn the business
Preferred
Prior school foodservice experience desired
Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Excel (Expert in Microsoft Excel; experience with macros preferred), and Outlook
Merger and acquisition experience is beneficial
