Responsibilities

Leading the Facilities Engineering teams for JHH’s inpatient and ambulatory care facilities and the research and education facilities for the SOM
Providing guidance to managerial staff, mechanics, technicians, and support staff to ensure work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations
Devising and implementing strategies to ensure a high quality of service and standards of care by implementing modern technologies, methods, and techniques
Coordinating training and other programs to develop and enhance the technical and management skills of staff and to ensure the retention and career advancement of employees and managers in the department
Ensuring that the work and efforts of the division are effectively communicated to team members, peers, and leadership of the department, SOM, Hospital, and Health System
Working with appropriate parties across the Health System and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine to implement innovative safety practices consistently
Working with internal and external customers to plan for and support continual changes and advances in healthcare, research, and education
Developing departmental policies and procedures and managing their implementation in accordance with institutional and departmental strategic objectives or initiatives
Preparing operational staffing and budgetary plans and managing resources to achieve goals
Assessing, managing and mitigating departmental fiscal risks and tracking and reporting key functional metrics to departmental leadership to reduce expenses, improve effectiveness, and to maintain the financial health of the department
Utilizing institutional benchmarking tools to look for areas of performance improvement
Actively participating in the annual capital budgeting process
Performing general managerial duties such as supervising staff, planning, scheduling, budgeting, data analysis, reporting, and performing presentations
Representing the department to patients, staff, faculty, visitors, or interested parties

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, business, or related field
10 or more years in healthcare facilities including 7 or more years related work experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity

MBA or related master's degree
