Database Analyst II - Cardiothoracic Surgery, Clinical Research
Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Database Analyst II for their Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinical Research team. The role involves providing technical and analytical support for database management systems, overseeing migrations, and ensuring the performance and capacity of applications meet expectations.

Responsibilities
Leads design of databases for modules of larger projects, monitoring progress to ensure timely completion of deliverables
Helps determine appropriate architecture and other technical solutions and makes relevant recommendations to the project manager or clients
Works with clients, project managers and designers in migrations of applications and databases to new environments
Communicates to the project manager with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays
Coordinates with Information Security Office on assessing the risk of the database environments and appropriate controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information
Tests applications to ensure performance and capacity plans meet expectations, including performing index tuning, query writing and optimization
Designs and develops application database structure, tables, entity relationships and security privileges
Ensures designs make efficient use of network and database resources
Coordinates work with other team members for application development, administration, information security and network administration to ensure that architecture, functionality and design are consistent with all information technology strategies
Researches and evaluates new technology, products, specialized hardware and tools to optimize development and functionality of websites and applications
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education
Strong knowledge of scripting, stored procedures, and query skills are required
Employee will oversee the migration of database structures from development and QA environments into the production environment
Monitor and manage all environments, and report capacity and performance results to management
Gathering client requirements as well as evaluating hardware availability and software requirements
Involved in administration of the databases(s) that support the application code
Interact with business and application development staff and should be able to work independently with minimal supervision
