Responsibilities

Helping maintain a clean, safe, friendly, and sanitary environment in patient and resident rooms, public areas, and food service areas within a healthcare facility

Perform sanitary duties, including sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors using both manual and powered equipment

Empty waste baskets and maintain cleanliness in areas such as patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and other assigned spaces

Learn to use cleaning tools and equipment to maintain a safe and sterile environment for patients, staff, and visitors

Follow safety guidelines and wear the required protective equipment (PPE)

Assist in keeping storage and equipment areas organized

Complies with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service

Provides outstanding customer service and effectively communicates with patrons and co-workers

Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships

Maintains quality control standards

Assist in food service responsibilities by following food safety guidelines, operating basic food service equipment such as, but not limited to, grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers

Possesses ability to work independently when necessary

Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes

Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances

Depending upon the location, complete assigned tasks based on that location's standard processes and policies

Follow infection prevention guidelines to handling contaminated laundry according to organizational and healthcare industrial laundry standards

Participate in laundry collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, as well as the handling, storage and distribution of clean laundry

Required

High School diploma or general education diploma (GED) equivalent is preferred

Minimum of 16 years of age

Ability to use a computer confidently

Depending upon location, must have a valid driver's license and have a good driving record

Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame

Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending upon location requirements

Preferred

Prior experience in food service, cleaning, and/or healthcare is beneficial

Previous customer service experience, retail counting and reconciliation of money preferred
