FT - Fleet Manager

Responsibilities

Manages, supervises and coordinates the maintenance activities and operations of the Fleet Services Division of the Public Works Department
Development, recommendation, and implementation of policy
Coordination of service delivery, contract management and interaction with regulatory agencies
Coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies
Provides highly responsible and complex administrative support
Managing the daily operations of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair
Supervises staff including prioritizing and assigning work
Short and long-range planning of Fleet Services shop operations
Development and execution of the equipment replacement program for City Vehicles

Required

Knowledge related to applicable Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations related to areas of supervision
Knowledge of the principles and practices related to the operation of fleet related equipment, vehicles, trucks and specialized equipment
Knowledge of municipal budget development, administration procedures, record keeping, municipal bidding procedures and equipment disposition and auction service procedures
Knowledge of City personnel policies and procedures and safety rules and regulation related to work procedures, equipment, and usage of materials
Knowledge of the principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
Ability to review, interpret, and analyze data to make sound, knowledgeable decisions and effective recommendations
Ability develop and administer department goals, objectives and procedures
Ability to supervise, manage and delegate subordinate employees
Specialized training in automotive/mechanical repair field or an associate's degree in business administration, public administration, industrial technology, or related field and five (5) years of increasing responsible experience in fleet management including three years of administrative and supervisory responsibility
A Valid Class C Texas driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
Possession of a recognized fleet management certification: Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), Certified Equipment Manager (CEM), Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) or the ability to obtain within an established time frame to be determined

Preferred

General knowledge of municipal purchasing, operations and procedures
