Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the staff and activities of the street, storm drainage, and traffic divisions
Exercises direct supervision over a staff of technical and administrative employees
Qualification
Required
Ability to develop and adhere to an annual budget
Ability to work in mechanically oriented situations
Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
Ability to manage emergencies and use good judgment in determining proper response
Ability to communicate effectively, present ideas and concepts with clarity, and prepare and make effective oral and written presentations
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations regarding streets, drainage, traffic, maintenance, and construction
Excellent knowledge of and experience with industry-related equipment
Knowledge of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code pertaining to the operation of vehicles and equipment
Knowledge of safety standards to prevent hazards
Technical skills related to the repair and maintenance of streets, alleys, and drainage systems (creeks and storm sewers)
High school diploma or its equivalent and at least seven (7) years of experience in municipal street and traffic systems, with at least five (5) of which involved supervisory and managerial responsibilities
A valid Class C Texas driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
