Responsibilities

Support an open-door policy to discuss and resolve issues with employees and managers
Foster communication between managers and employees, advise managers on how to prevent and resolve conflicts, and assess the effectiveness of interventions
Investigate employee matters related to human resources (HR) policies, manage procedures, respond to inquiries, and inform managers of significant issues that require attention, providing solutions
Advise the Title IX and compliance office on investigations and assist with the implementation of action steps
Oversee the position management process for all personnel changes and ensure accurate job descriptions
Get approval from a manager or director for inline promotions and salary adjustments to process requests
Prepare employee separation documents, conduct exit interviews, and work to modify the work environment based on feedback received
Collaborate with the SCAD benefits office to guide managers, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and guidelines when managing leaves of absence
Work with their office to complete accommodation requests through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Review the rating distribution for designated departments and provide feedback to managers and area vice presidents
Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance with state and federal laws when handling employment issues
Collaborate with the compensation department to assist with salary administration, request compensation analyses and studies, and promote fairness and compliance
Support annual salary increases by gathering necessary information for executive approval and communicating final raises to managers
Provide effective coaching and feedback and review all performance evaluations in your assigned area to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
Facilitate planning activities, keep organization charts for your departments up to date, and develop and lead learning and development programs for employees
Support the recruitment process and advise management and recruiters on candidate suitability
Assist with new-hire orientation presentations, participate in special projects, and foster effective working relationships with various departments
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the university
Manage and develop recruitment efforts, conduct interviews, and assist in the development of internal candidates for open positions
Create and oversee an internal applicant job site in collaboration with the executive director of talent acquisition and the senior director of employee development and HR communications
Determine eligibility, create profiles for current employee applicants, and complete and submit all necessary paperwork and documentation for the hiring and transfer of current employees
Streamline the application process, conduct initial phone interviews to screen internal candidates, document findings, and make referrals to the talent acquisition team
Manage the current employee compensation review process

Required

Bachelor's degree
At least five years of human resources or related experience

Preferred

Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment with high standards of excellence
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Outstanding knowledge in employee relations, organizational development, recruitment, compensation, and training and development
Ability to consistently maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
