Responsibilities

Design and develop custom manufacturing tooling and fixtures to support safe, efficient, and repeatable production processes
Create and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for internal fabrication, machining, and external vendor sourcing
Collaborate with plant engineering, manufacturing, and shop floor operators to gather tooling requirements and incorporate operator feedback into designs
Apply mechanical design principles, including material selection, tolerance stack-up analysis, and fit/function validation
Support prototype tooling builds, including limited use of additive manufacturing (3D printing) when applicable
Coordinate with internal tool makers and external suppliers to support tool fabrication, procurement, trials, and validation
Provide hands-on support during tool tryouts, production trials, and process adjustments on the manufacturing floor
Maintain accurate documentation, revisions, and configuration control using engineering data management systems

Required

Bachelor's degree in Operations, Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in CAD modeling software (CATIA with Windchill preferred)
Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms acceptable with ability to ramp quickly
Strong mechanical design aptitude, including understanding of material properties and basic material science
Ability to perform tolerance and stack-up analysis
Practical problem-solving for real-world manufacturing constraints
Ability to interpret and produce manufacturing-ready drawings with GD&T fundamentals
Experience or coursework in tool design, fixture design, or mechanical design
Exposure to heavy equipment, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or similar environments
Familiarity with vendor coordination, sourcing, and build support for tooling or mechanical components
Hands-on manufacturing experience through internships, co-ops, or shop-floor collaboration
Experience supporting prototype builds or production launches
Internship in a relevant engineering space
Knowledge of equipment manufacturing industry or automobile industry
Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma tools
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite; including a strong emphasis on Excel
Analytical and problem-solving skills
