Responsibilities
Define the structure of the CMDB, including CI classes, attributes, and naming conventions
Lead the effort to map complex relationships between physical/virtual infrastructure and the business services they support
Establish 'trust rules' to manage data coming from multiple discovery sources (e.g., Cloud, Network Scanners, and Manual entry) to ensure data collision is minimized
Oversee the implementation of CMDB modules within the ITSM platform to ensure they meet business requirements
Strategy and oversight of automated discovery tools (such as Ivanti Neurons or similar) to ensure the environment is scanned accurately and frequently
Ensure the CMDB is deeply integrated with Change Management processes so that CI updates are captured automatically during the system lifecycle
Act as the primary authority for CMDB data quality; define and enforce the policies for how data enters and leaves the system
Conduct regular 'Physical-to-CMDB' and 'CMDB-to-Physical' audits to maintain a high level of data accuracy (target >95%)
Develop health dashboards to visualize CMDB completeness, correctness, and compliance for executive stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in Configuration Management or Service Asset Management (SACM)
Frameworks: Strong mastery of ITIL 4 (specifically the Practice of Service Configuration Management)
Technical Background: Proven track record of managing enterprise-level CMDBs (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC, or Jira Service Management)
Analytical Skills: Advanced data manipulation skills; ability to interpret complex infrastructure logs and relationship dependencies
Preferred
Ivanti Ecosystem: Hands-on experience or certification in Ivanti ITSM and Ivanti Neurons for discovery and automation
Scripting: Experience with PowerShell, Python, or SQL to assist in automated data reconciliation
Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS/Azure/GCP resource tagging and how they translate into a CMDB
