Sales Leader - Business Development (Government Sector)
BuzzClan is a rapidly growing technology solutions provider dedicated to delivering innovative services to enterprise and government clients. They are seeking a Sales Leader - Business Development with proven success in government sector sales to identify opportunities, build relationships, and close deals across federal, state, and local government agencies.
Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities across federal, state, and local government agencies
Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities
Navigate complex government procurement processes (RFPs, RFQs, GSA schedules, contract vehicles)
Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers across various government departments (IT, procurement, program management, finance, etc.)
Act as a trusted advisor to government clients, understanding their pain points and proposing tailored solutions
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction
Stay current on government spending trends, budget cycles, and emerging priorities
Monitor competitive landscape and identify differentiators for BuzzClan
Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand market presence
Work closely with delivery, proposal, and marketing teams to develop compelling proposals
Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and performance reports to leadership
Contribute to the development of go-to-market strategies for government sector growth
Qualification
Required
8+ years of B2B sales experience with at least 3+ years selling to government agencies (state, or local)
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in the government sector
Experience working across multiple government departments (e.g., Defense, Health & Human Services, Transportation, Education, Justice, Homeland Security, etc.)
Familiarity with government contracting vehicles (GSA Schedule, SEWP, NITAAC, state contracts, etc.)
Deep understanding of government procurement processes and sales cycles
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities
Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a remote environment
Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
Understanding of technology solutions (cloud services, cybersecurity, IT services, data analytics, etc.) is a plus
Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
Preferred
Existing network of contacts within government agencies in Florida, Louisiana, or Texas
Experience with proposal development and RFP responses
Knowledge of compliance requirements (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, etc.)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
