Fungal Community Project Coordinator
Convergent Research is a Focused Research Organization dedicated to advancing biotechnology through novel microorganisms. They are seeking a highly organized Community Project Coordinator to manage outreach and communications within the global fungal research community while also supporting project management efforts for their Fungal Program.

Responsibilities
Initiate, manage, and oversee program outreach efforts with the global fungal scientific community
Maintain working relations with a large number of community experts to routinely solicit information about organisms and methods
Develop and conduct community surveys for feedback
Coordinate and attend meetings with community experts, keep meeting notes, prepare meeting materials and discussion topics, and manage follow-up communications
Manage incoming community-related communications. Assist in scheduling meetings with external collaborators
Build and maintain a structured database of researchers, collaborators, and community contacts
Research and track scientific conferences, workshops, and community events relevant to fungal biology, microbiology, and biotechnology
Draft short research briefs, background summaries, and landscape overviews related to scientific events, emerging communities, or thematic areas of interest
Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual scientific meetings, workshops, and convenings, including scheduling, speaker coordination, and materials preparation. Support speaker preparation, information sharing, and post-event follow-up
Support planning and execution of the Fungal Program by maintaining clear project documentation, timelines, and milestone tracking in collaboration with program leadership
Assist in the development and upkeep of concise project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and dependencies
Track progress against milestones and flag risks, delays, or resourcing needs; support follow-up on action items
Prepare meeting agendas, capture notes, document decisions, and track action items for program meetings
Help compile progress summaries, internal updates, and external reports aligned with Wellcome Trust–funded program requirements
Maintain organized repositories of program materials, protocols, presentations, and reference documents
Provide general administrative and coordination support, including document formatting, meeting follow-ups, and light calendar management
Support internal research planning efforts and cross-team initiatives as needed
Qualification
Required
>3 years of experience in fungal research is required
>3 years of experience in program coordination, project management, operations, or a similar support role is required
Bachelor's degree required in scientific or research-intensive fields (e.g., biology, bioengineering, microbiology, public health, or related disciplines)
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, track details, and follow projects through from planning to execution
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise written summaries
Ability to navigate scientific content such as conference programs, research abstracts, and technical documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional and thoughtful in external interactions
Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; familiarity with collaborative and project management tools (e.g., Notion, Airtable, Slack, Monday, or similar) is a plus
Self-starter who demonstrates initiative and can operate effectively with limited oversight
