Responsibilities

The Senior Scaler is responsible for measuring and scaling logs in the log yard to ascertain their usable content in board feet to determine log volume for payment and enter the information into a handheld computer
Print accurate scale reports, attach matching tickets to the load and turn in at the end of shift
Operate truck scale for inbound and outbound trucks; input accurate data using 3LOG/LIMS computer system
Interact positively with contractors, drivers, vendors, and the public providing excellent customer service and communicating our safety policies to them
Maintain log yard and plant site in accordance with log yard plan for all four seasons
All other duties assigned by Supervisor
Operates all equipment in a safe manner and maintains a clean work area
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations

Licensed to scale logsScaling experienceMathematical aptitudeComputer proficiencyCommunication skills

Required

Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S
High School Diploma or GED required
Must be licensed to scale logs in the state of Idaho with a minimum of one year's scaling experience
A good attendance, work, and safety record
Ability to work overtime and weekends
You must be capable of working outdoor in all weather conditions
Must have adequate mathematical, writing, and reading aptitudes
Basic understanding of computers and window-based programs
Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Must be capable of working in hot, dusty, cold wet, dirty, confined working environment
This job will require walking all day
This job will require physical activity such as lifting items up to 50 pounds, carrying tools, bending, reading computers and use of CB radio
