Responsibilities

Perform original research in the general area of microbial physiology and metabolism under the direction of the PI. This position requires acquiring and analyzing data, preparation of figures for publications
Assist other member of the lab to perform biochemical, genetic, molecular biological experiments pertinent to their ongoing research
Monitoring research supplies and equipment, maintain compliance of the lab with UGA safety regulations (chemical, biological, radiation safety). In addition this position will be responsible for supervising the work of undergraduate laboratory assistants

Required

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
The ability to perform independent work is required
Previous experience in cloning, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays, biochemical assays, basic microbiological techniques (aseptic technique, autoclaving media, etc), microbial growth analyses, are required
