RESEARCH ASST I (Student/Work Study)

The University of Michigan-Flint School of Management is seeking a Research Assistant I to work in Dr. Emily Lavering's lab on a project studying the bacteria Streptococcus mutans. The role involves conducting various laboratory techniques and contributing to research aimed at understanding and preventing dental caries.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Learn and practice sterile techniques
Culture bacteria (in both solid and liquid media)
Measure bacterial growth using optical densities
Learn various bacteriophage techniques
Perform biofilm assays
Help develop new research methods
Write a paper or make a poster clearly communicating results

Required

Must be a UM-Flint undergraduate student
Students must have availability on Tuesday and or Thursday afternoons
