Teaching two courses of introductory mathematics (such as precalculus or college algebra) per semester using active learning strategies in a coordinated setting
Participation in professional development related to teaching and research in a university setting
Conducting collaborative research with the tenure-track faculty in the mathematics department
Qualification
Required
A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, or related field, is required at the time of the appointment
Applicants must be within five years of earning their Ph.D
Strong promise of developing an active research program in an area that can be mentored by department faculty
Experience with teaching introductory mathematics courses
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a postdoctoral fellow at VCU
