They are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and scale their API and backend engineering organization while partnering with various teams to align engineering with business goals.

Responsibilities

Own the roadmap and delivery for API products and core backend services, with a focus on scalability, security, and performance

Lead, mentor, and scale an initial team of ~12–14 engineers, growing the organisation to 20+

Manage managers and senior ICs, setting a high bar for execution and technical quality

Partner closely with Product, Data Science, Infrastructure, and Executive leadership to align engineering with business goals

Drive architectural decisions and platform evolution to support product differentiation

Establish best practices across engineering workflows, including reliability, observability, incident response, and on-call standards

Maintain hands-on technical involvement through code reviews, production debugging, and selective feature delivery
