Columbia River Fishery Sampler (Biological Science Assistant)
The State of Oregon's Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking seasonal Columbia River Fishery Samplers to assist with the Ocean Salmon & Columbia River Program in Astoria, Oregon. The role involves collecting catch and effort data from recreational and commercial fisheries, participating in monitoring and sampling activities, and contributing to the protection and enhancement of Oregon's fish and wildlife resources.

Responsibilities
Collect catch and effort data from recreational fisheries on the lower Columbia River
Collect information on commercial fisheries
Participate in commercial fishery monitoring, test fishing, hatchery sampling, coded-wire tag recovery, and tagging projects
Qualification
Required
This position requires a Boater Education Certificate obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board within the first 30 days of appointment
Preferred
Experience collecting and recording data
Experience collecting biological samples
Experience identifying adult fish species, particularly salmonids
Field survey experience
Boating experience
Anyone who has or is in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
